❤️ When people send you a picture of your albums they have bought ❤️
Just received an encouraging message. Not getting rich or paying my rent thanks to those progressive/metal records, as I’ve always said: the reward is the kind words we receive from supportive fans—this music is supposed to be heard, and (if possible) appreciated. The fact that people are listening to my crap means the world to me, please keep those messages coming! Write to your favorite musicians, bands, artists etc. You have no idea how motivating this can be, especially in such times. 🙏 ... See MoreSee Less
The music for the last song of the new LALU record is in the box as I am writing this statement.
I want to take the time to thanks Jelly Cardarelli and Joop Wolters for their incredible work, support, and true friendship over the years. And of course, my wife Eleftheria Zavalis without who I would have probably not been here anymore to write these lines
I met an incredible drummer and producer some years ago, going by the artist name of Jelly (Jelly Cardarelli). Jelly understood right away what I wanted to do with this album—our musical minds connect in an unprecedented way (outside of Joop, but everybody know this by now). Jelly is not only drumming, he's also co-producing the album with me and respects my vision at 100%. I am hereby happy to announce the title of the new LALU record:
"PAINT THE SKY".
The attached art is not the album's artwork, it is a present from Joop after we finished the guitar recordings. I am speechless that he painted this as a personal gift to me—the love I receive from my brothers in arms is humbling.
The next and final recordings, and mixing sessions, are planned for April-May-June.
This record is gonna be a 'HATE IT' or 'LOVE IT' kind of experience for some of my long time fans, and followers. It is a (well, not so radical actually) departure from metal music. Being the son of two musicians from the 70's, after growing up surrounded by progressive music, I've always felt the itch to craft a true, passionately written ART ROCK record. Now I believe the time was right for me. This is who I am deep inside. I put what I felt on "paper", this album is as sincere as it gets. I couldn't force myself to do anything else right now.
This also means a change of vocalist specifically for this progressive, lighter record. I cannot wait to announce him, I've been a fan of his voice since forever, so it's a dream come true to have the chance to work together to bring those songs to a new level thanks to his unique voice, and lyrics. He is one of the most respected, and established voices in the scene. But not only. Enough talk, already saying too much!
I need some days of rest as this week been pretty intense musically, on every front. Skipped some nights (to make it short).I don't want to hurt my health so I'll take a short break while you guys continue to love each-other.
Love you, may the sun shine its light on you all, and talk soon = )
I am so proud of my wife; she is an amazing music composer, and sound designer! This is the final video from her university project (a re-imagining of I, Robot’ soundtrack, and SFX). I sincerely don’t know anybody her age who could pull this off. Check it out—don’t hesitate to support her, and like her page. Also don’t hesitate to hire her for any music work of yours—she’s not just a composer, she’s also making transcriptions of music scores, lyrical vocals etc. for a living. Don’t be shy! ❤️ ...
