Biography

Vivien Lalu is a French musician, keyboardist, composer, and producer based in Paris.

Born into a musical family, with his mother Noëlle on keyboards and his father Michel as guitarist for the 70s French progressive band Polène, Vivien was immersed in music from an early age. He briefly studied under Emmanuel David, a student of jazz legend Thelonious Monk.

Since 1997, Vivien has consistently released music across bands and projects, primarily in the progressive rock and metal scenes. His work has earned notable recognition over the years, including an "Album of the Month" from Rock Hard Magazine and a place in Roadrunner Records' Top Ten Albums of 2013, as selected by Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater.

Vivien's first foray into film scoring came in 2008 with the Warner Bros. comedy Seuls Two, directed by Éric & Ramzy. He has since contributed to various TV soundtracks, including the show Science X for Igor & Grichka Bogdanoff, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd.

Beyond albums and live performances, Vivien has created music and sound effects for Ubisoft and Neko Entertainment games on platforms including the Nintendo DS, 3DS, and Wii U. An endorsing artist for Roland keyboards, he has been involved in over twenty albums as a keyboardist, composer, or producer, working across labels such as Frontiers, Universal, Sony, InsideOut, Metal Blade, and AFM Records.

Whether writing, producing, or performing, Vivien keeps his focus firmly on the music itself, never losing sight of his roots in progressive rock.
